Description: Five flowers and two buds on one upright terminal inflorescence borne on a single terrestrial growth in a 10.0-cm plastic pot, the approximately 6.5-cm cane bearing five, up to 24.0-cm long by 1.1-cm wide lanceolate leaves, the proximal half encircling the stem; the 16.5-cm terminal raceme bears flowers and buds arranged in spiral formation; sepals lanceolate, fused, forming a helmet, cream overlaid dark burgundy on proximal three-fourths medially, veins burgundy; petals deltoid, caudate, fitting tightly against sepals dark burgundy, darker proximally, apex cream; lip very large, distinctly three lobed, cream overlaid dark burgundy, veined darker burgundy, side lobes square, midlobe deltoid-lanceolate, three keels, lanate centrally, reverse lightly overlaid burgundy; column dark burgundy, anther cap elongated, swollen on proximal half, cream, margins purple; substance medium; texture crystalline, lip matte; ovary light green; bract ensiform, large, light green; Country of Origin – Corsica; awarded and confirmed by SITF as Serapias cordigera (July 2018); tubers are not visible for description, lip side lobes with fused sepals for a tube, lip midlobe is at a right angle forming a large shield.
